Hello, friends!
I’m pleased to report that parts 1 and 2 of Spellbound are complete, which means I’m moving on to the stage of outlining part 3, The Chariot. I hoped that immersing myself in the world of Boston Falls again would help the new ideas flow, but didn’t anticipate getting tripped up in the editing/drafting switcheroo. My critical brain doesn’t want to give way to my creative brain, so there’s a little bit of a cranial slap-fight happening in my head.
That’s to be expected, though. The road to creating anything is filled with potholes.
Or trees, if you’re in NE Ohio!
Last week we had a series of storms roll through that wrecked Cleveland. Our power keeled over while I was on a roll with editing, which sucked. I write in Google Drive on my laptop, but without power, my only option was to work on my phone.
That’s a big no from me, dawg.
Instead, I spent the evening doing red-pen edits on my printed manuscript by lantern. There was some fun in the old-timey vibe, but when the house heated to ridiculous levels because the AC was dead, too, I was no longer amused by my luddite taste-test.
When the power wasn’t back by 4 am, I packed my sweaty, exhausted self up, along with my laptop, and squatted at Starbucks.
It’s these unexpected hurdles to creation that seem to pile up and kill the momentum, but I’m still moving along. This book needs written! It’s going to take a lot more than these hiccups to slow me down.
